Excerpt from "Baselines," the official newsletter of the Babe Ruth Birthplace & Museum: Lt. Governor Michael S. Steele joined the board and staff of the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum, Maryland Stadium Authority officials, and honored guests from the world of sports at Camden Station to unveil the name and logo of the Museum's second site. Sports Legends at Camden Yards is scheduled to open in May 2005. "We are thrilled to be able to put a name on this building," said Museum Chairman Michael Hodes. "And continue to move forward, getting one step closer to the opening of the country's best sports museum." The process to come up with a name was based on public opinion research conducted by Edge Research of VA. Edge held a series of focus groups in Baltimore and the DC metro area to brainstorm ideas for a name and tagline. The focus groups were followed by an online survey, where several names were tested on multiple dimensions. Over 1000 people completed the five-minute survey, with responses coming in from across Maryland and other parts of the country. "Sports Legends at Camden Yards not only tested well in the survey," said Pam Loeb of Edge Research, "but it builds on several themes that our research participants said were important. To the public, the museum is about telling the stories of some of the greatest legends in sports, as well as many of today's heroes. It's about history, heritage, and heroes." Scheduled to open in May 2005, Sports Legends at Camden Yards promises to be a family friendly attraction with a packed schedule of programs for kids and adults alike, interactive exhibits, special events, player appearances, and pre- ad post-game broadcasts.
